Redirect Your Prayers

For so long we have prayed for positive changes in Haiti, but yet the only changes that we have seen is an increase in violence, corruption, environment degradation and high prevalence of infectious diseases. Furthermore, in recent years, Haiti has seen an increase in kidnaping cases, high price for food ,and high price for gas. Moreover, the lack of security is at its worst even with the presence of the United Nations forces. Many Haitians are still trying to guess the goals and objectives of the UN in Haiti. If you ask, many Haitians in the country will utter without hesitation that the UN plays a role in the kidnaping and also committed other crimes such as rape and murder. From the year 2006 through 2007, over one hundred soldiers from the UN were accused of raping young girls and encouraged them to exchange sex for money or food.

Right at this moment, millions of people including infants are starving. In addition, health services are not accessible, and millions of people rely on rain water to answer their hygiene needs.

The frustrating aspect of this madness is knowing that human have the ability to reason and to differentiate between right and wrong, just, and unjust, fair and unfair, but yet those who are in position to make a difference closed their eyes and occupied their ears with the sounds of the good and luxurious life so that they do not hear the cry of the needy and less fortunate.

We from SeNouNet are giving a special thank to Wyclef for making the commitment to bring changes in the life of many children who otherwise would be part of the statistics.

For so long we have prayed for Haiti, but yet this effort never yielded positive results. It is time now to redirect our prayers to us, Haitians because Haiti is not the problem- Haiti will always be what we make it.
